This is an introductory course for students with a general interest in Chemistry as well as for those who require Chemistry for more advanced study in the Sciences and it is also recommended for Anatomy and Physiology 12. The course examines a variety of topics including the quantum mechanical model of the atom, electron configuration, chemical bonding and chemical reactions, the mole and its use in quantitative measurements, solubility, as well as the wide variety of organic compounds and how they react. This course involves the development of skills in experimentation, including observation, analysis and recording of results in lab reports.  Skills and abilities in mathematics, related to basic algebra skills, are essential.

Recommended prerequisite: Science 10 and Foundations of Math 10
