EFP Literacy Studies + New Media 10-11

English First Peoples New Media 10/11 is designed for students who are interested in exploring digital media in communicating and exchanging ideas about common themes in First Peoples texts and Reconciliation in Canada. In a rapidly changing world, new media influences people’s understandings of community. First Peoples themes will be explored through media including: oral history and storytelling, narratives, documentary films, movies, television, Indigenous journalism, and contemporary Indigenous literatures. Students will be able to engage with multimedia design processes using digital media, such as podcasts, blogs, Indigenous music, and/or social media. We will explore self-representation through authentic First Peoples media and texts as a means to foster justice.
