Grade 11 Grade 12
This course provides students an opportunity to receive credit for both Law 12 and Criminology 154 through Camosun College. At the moment, we are planning to offer the course inside the regular timetable but may need to consider other options as the course is taught in conjunction with a professor from Camosun College. THERE IS NO TUITION COST for this course, but students will need to purchase the required Camosun College textbook. Topics to be covered may include: the Canadian criminal justice system, its components, processes, objectives, and functions as well as more general topics related to criminal law such as the Canadian Criminal Code, police procedures and rights of the accused as well as laws dealing with drinking and driving, sexual consent, drug possession, citizen’s arrest and self-defense among other topics. This course is intended for students planning to pursue post-secondary studies after high school and requires a high level of commitment.
