Metal Work 9, 10, 11, 12

This is a wonderful, fun program. Learn how to form and shape metal into useful projects and creative works of art. As a first-time student in the metal shop, you will start with construction of a hose bracket. This project introduces you to most of the machines and processes in the metal shop: safe and proper use of hand tools, metal lathe machining and oxy-acetylene welding and electric welding. Upon completion of the bracket, you will sketch, draft and construct approved projects of your own design, such as a candle holder, wind chimes, tools, stands for different applications, boxes and more. Students opting to take Metalwork more than once will receive advanced instruction in areas of individual interest with emphasis on projects designed by students. Open to students in all grades.
