PHILOSOPHY STUDIES 12

Credits: 4

Grade 11 Grade 12

Philosophy is a course that examines the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality and existence. Some of the questions we will explore include: What does it mean to be human? Are we responsible for what we do? Does free will exist? What – morally – are we expected to do? Should we eat meat? What is the relationship between mind, body and brain? How skeptical should we be? Does God exist? What is the point of the arts? How do we know anything? What makes a good life? This course will not have many traditional homework assignments, tests or exams but will require some high-level reading and you should enjoy participating in or listening to discussions and debates.
